IUDESP UJI

Overview

The Interuniversity Institute of Social Development and Peace (IUDESP) between the Universitat Jaume I of Castellón and the Universitat of Alicante was found in 2010 with the decree 88/2010 of May 21 of the Department of Education of regional government Generalitat Valenciana.

It was established for the purpose of conducting research and teaching in topics related to peace and development understood in their broad definitions.
IUDESP objectives are:

  • To foster research on peace and development.
  • To participate in research projects (R+D+I).
  • To take part in scientific meetings, conferences, seminars.
  • To disseminate research results through national and international publications, both with specific and general scope.
  • To manage and participate in editorial boards and committees of specialised national or international journals.
  • To supervise and to promote doctoral and master’s theses.
  • To spread knowledge to society and to collaborate in transfer and awareness-raising activities.

As for research, the IUDESP branch of Castellón currently comprises researchers from different research groups:

Moreover, the IUDESP branch of Castellón networks with other management and knowledge unites of the Universitat Jaume I de Castellón, such as the Doctoral Programme in International Studies in Peace, Conflict and Development and the UNESCO Chair of Philosophy for Peace, which was created in 1999 and constitutes the recognition by the UNESCO of the commitment with values of peace, equality and cultural diversity, and is related to the Master in International Studies of Peace, Conflict and Development.
